Two U.S. Marines provide security as a Malaysian Ranger makes his way across the road. The militaries of the two nations came together June 9 during the final phase of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 2011. CARAT is an annual bilateral exercise held between the U.S. and Southeast Asia nations with the goals of enhancing regional cooperation, promoting mutual trust and understanding, and increasing operational readiness throughout the participating nations. While in Malaysia, the servicemembers from both nations trained together on jungle operations and military operations in urban terrain. (Official Marine Corps Photo by Cpl. Aaron Hostutler)
